Siem Reap ក្រុងសៀមរាប
Despite decades of tourism development around one of the wonders of the world, Angkor Wat, Siem Reap province still remains one of the poorest counties in Cambodia. Just one hour outside of Siem Reap city, where most tourists are, poverty is pervasive with people struggling to make a living and children dropping out of school twice as likely as children in the city.
M.Y. Yu Foundation works with local schools in Siem Reap province, focusing on the rural areas that account for 45% of the province’s poverty population ($0.75 per day income or less). By working directly with the schools, we provide more opportunities for children to get better quality education – from starting art classes, to funding essential school supplies, and to supporting schools’ food and health projects – and improved family environment.
